The Season to Believe

Starting on November 27, we will begin a new Christmas sermon series entitled: Do you believe? The Christmas season is all about belief - usually belief in Santa Claus or Christmas spirit. But as we look to the scriptures, we see that the Bible readings for this time of year are also asking us if we believe. But they are passages that confront us with a completely different set of beliefs. The scriptures are proclaiming the miraculous and unique birth of Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the promise of Christ's return one day. These are basic Christian claims, but the question is still raised: Do YOU believe them?

Disafilliation Meeting

October 12, 2022

We had a churchwide informational meeting and question and answer session about the current state of the United Methodist Church. In that meeting Pastor Luke presented some information on the tension in our denomination on the teaching and practice of human sexuality and the two main visions that are being formed to move forward. One vision will be what leads the United Methodist Church: a "big tent" inclusivism where differing views on sexuality will be allowed. The second vision will be the lead for a new Global Methodist Church where higher accountability to traditional teachings will be expected.

A blind straw poll was taken of those in attendance on their preference to stay in the UMC or seek a process to "disaffiliate."  (A recording is available here).

Do you want to join in the work of Christian unity?

Over the last several years, there has been a group of pastors and lay people from different churches in Beaver County who are committed to the work of racial reconciliation. The world is full of division. But we believe that through Christ at work in us the "dividing walls of hostility" are brought down. We are made on in Christ Jesus.
